DARKNESS Hailing from the 1985 Ridley Scott film LEGEND, Darkness is both the antagonist and master of the underworld within the dark fantasy film. For a time, he had ruled over the world when it had been encased within perpetual night. However, when Light had been born and gently touched the world, he and the goblins and monsters and very nightmarish creatures of his court had all been driven underground, beneath the very earth which he had once ruled over and sought refuge within The Great Tree. It is only when he senses the presence of two unicorns walking the earth and, therefore, the source of Light, that he orders his "favored" goblin, Blix, to both find and kill the unicorns so that the world may once again be plunged into eternal night and become his kingdom once more... for Darkness has a weakness to both sunlight and any object or weapon of it. As his name suggests, the dark lord is a beast of chaotic evil though remains to be both charming and cunning in personality. He is sadistic in his ways, showing no remorse for those who end up tortured within his chambers nor killing any man who dares to defy him. He commands with an iron fist and finds amusement in corrupting the pure and innocent. Though he does not feel the warmth of love, he does, however, desire and lust for that which catches his eye... namely the pure and innocent who are a stark contrast to his dark and chaotic being. Contemptuous of most things, he finds the light and the unicorns to be disgusting, looks down on mankind despite his dark influence over them, and shows disdain more often than not for those who serve under him. He is not to be saved nor meant to be by those with pure light, as he is the opposite of said light as much as they are the opposite of him. ABILITIES/WEAKNESS A master manipulator, Darkness possesses various charms and abilities as the lord of the underworld, those which include dream manipulation, dark magic, the ability to control fire, superhuman strength, casting and creating illusions, manipulation of matter, umbramancy, omniscience, and of course, omnipotence. His weakness, as mentioned above, is the Light and any variation of it, even if imbued within an object or weapon such as a unicorn's horn.
